The real culprit for Rise in fuel prices

The media has been constantly talking about rising crude oil prices and how the Indian OMCs are losing so much money as a result of fuel subsidies. To a logical mind, it seems obvious that if international crude oil prices are rising, there is no way we can escape the brunt of it. But if you look at some basic facts, you get a feeling that there has been some deliberate shaping of public opinion. In fact, fuel prices need not be as high as they are now.

The problem is that we fail to ask how much petrol really costs. Let's try some simple arithmetic. International crude oil prices are hovering around US$ 112.5 per barrel. That translates to about Rs 5,085 per barrel. Each barrel contains about 158.76 litres. So, effectively crude oil costs Rs 32 per litre. Now, add the cost of refining it to petrol or diesel. According to an oil company official, the refining cost is about 52 paise per litre. Add about Rs 6 as capital costs for the refinery. Then there's the cost of transportation (Rs 6) and dealer's commission (Rs 1.05). So, adding all that, the price of petrol comes to about Rs 45.6 per litre. But how much are we actually paying for petrol? Rs 68.3 in Mumbai, Rs 63.4 in New Delhi, Rs 71 in Bangalore!

Why are we paying so much more and to whom? The answer is tax. Not many are aware about the huge quantum of central and state government taxes and duties levied on fuel prices. In some states the tax component is pretty close to 50%. To add to that, these taxes are levied as a percentage of the basic price of the fuel and aren't fixed per litre. That means rising fuel prices only add more to the government's kitty. But all we hear about are the huge subsidies and the bleeding OMCs.

An optimal solution at the moment would be to reduce the tax burden on fuels. But neither the central government nor the state governments have shown any willingness to budge one bit.

Only Today

Whatever I may want to do
It must be done today.
There is no other time.

Yesterdays are but todays
Used and gone beyond my grasp.
Not one can ever be brought back;

Even as a bell can't be unrung
Or a spoken, unintended word
Be readily retrieved before
It reaches someone's ear.

Tomorrows are todays awaiting birth.
Each comes unbidden in the night
To arrive full-fledged for me to use
And do whatever I may want to do.

Watched this movie some time back..
Its a story about this guy who is connected to some kind of technology which can actually take him back to the past! And he can actually trace this guy who plants a bomb in the running train by going back into the past!

Have u ever wondered what would it have been like to go back in the past?
To change what had happened and to live those beautiful moments we once spent all over again?
Times travels very fast..So remember to make Memories today so that 1 day when you grow old n look back you can say that yes I have enjoyed my life fully.

No one really remembers how u used to look or how you used to dress, they only remember you for how you made them feel..

Stepping Stones Of Life

The Lord came to me like a dream one day and asked,
why do you sorrow
I answered, Lord my life is so full of pain,
I can't face one more tomorrow.

The Lord sat down beside me,
and gently took my hand.
He said,
Let me explain to you and then you'll understand.

Each sorrow is a stepping stone
you must surmount each day,
And every stepping stone you climb
is a sorrow that's passed away.

The road of life is a mountainside,
with crevices in which to be caught,
But as you struggle on your way,
I, the Rock, will lend support.

Every stepping stone you climb,
makes spirit and heart grow strong.
Exercising character and faith
this road seems painful and long.

The way is paved with stepping stones,
to uplift your heart and soul,
Though difficult they aid your way,
to a City paved with gold.

I know that you are tired,
for I too have walked this way,
My sorrows did they multiply,
but I cleared the stones away.

I left my rock to lift you up,
I left behind my story.
To give you strength to make your climb,
to that special place in glory.

And never fear, the Rock is here,
You'll never climb alone
Surmount life's sorrows, continue on,
For they are but stepping stones.

Welcome to the family Honey!!

"Welcome home honey", I said to my new little puppy who came home this month to live with me. She is just a month old and is all ready to jump in and around your lap. The moment you look at her innocent face, you will forget all your worries and tension and become stress free. The love a dog can give you is perhaps the only unconditional love you can get other than from any human being. The love they give you is beyond expectations and without asking anything in return from us. Thats the beauty of a dog. We humans need to learn many things from these wonderful animals.

Animals especially dogs provide spiritual qualities such as love, joy, healing, forgiveness, patience, courage, and gratitude- virtues that are often lacking in our modern high-tech yet low-touch lives.Studies have shown that owning and handling dogs significantly benefits health, and thats not just for the young; they help elderly owners live longer, healthier, and more enjoyable lives.

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, till the last beat of this heart. Its saddening to see so many malnourished and injured dogs in the streets each day. We must do our little bit for these God-gifted creatures.

As it is rightly said by a gentlemen Louis Saben that " No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich. So everyone out there what are you still thinking? Go ahead and get yourself a dog!! Believe me, it will change your life for the better!

Yoga - Food for the mind, body and soul

In todays competitve and fast world, evryone is on a race to success. As a result of this tight schedule of ours and on the path of connecting with so many people each day, we are loosing on connecting with oursleves, on knowing and hearing are inner voice. The stress we are giving to our body, mind and soul is irrepairable.

Why are we feeding only our stomach with all the delicious food n drinks. What about food for our soul? So is there any solution to this problem we face each day? Or do we wish to live the rest of our lives with the same monotony and finally end up in hospital with respiratory problems, spinal problems, migrane attacks etc and a list of medicines to add on to all that! But to all this can we still do something for ourselves, mainly our soul? Yes we can. We can feed it a food called YOGA.

The ultimate goal of yoga is, to help you to transcend yourself and attain enlightenment. As the Bhagavad-Gita says, “A person is said to have achieved yoga, the union with the Self, when the perfectly disciplined mind gets freedom from all desires, and becomes absorbed in the Self alone.” Yoga is a way of acheiving those peoples aim of "A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body". The health benefits of yoga can be acheieved from the yoga postures(Asanas), yoga breathing(Pranayama), and mediation. It is a solution to all the problems faced by our bodies.

So why not start feeding our mind, body and soul as well. Lastly we should keep in mind that the more love we give to ourselves, the more love our body will return back to us. And it is rightly said that You cannot love anyone else until you have loved yourself.
